Dawgs for Haiti

Dawgs for Haiti is the University of Georgia’s relief effort to raise money to support the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. You can learn more about this campaign at dawgsforhaiti.uga.edu where you will find a secure, online donation system.

The goal of this student-initiated and operated campaign is to collect $50,000 from the Bulldog Nation. These proceeds will be divided evenly between the relief efforts of the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.

Whether you decide to donate your time, energy or make a contribution, please consider helping us answer the call, finish the drill and make a difference in the lives of those who have so little in this time of overwhelming need.

For more information, to get involved and / or to make a contribution, please visit dawgsforhaiti.uga.edu.

Dawgs Feeding Dogs Campaign

September 1 – December 18, 2009

The 2009 football season will be the fourth year that alumni organizations throughout the U.S. have collected and donated pet food to their local no kill shelters in honor of our beloved Uga. The Athens Area Chapter is collecting pet food (dog and cat) for Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen, which is a not-for-profit organization that works to keep families together. When economic times are tough on humans they are also tough on the pets. Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen offers food to pet owners so they do not have to have to give up their animals because they can no longer afford to feed them.

You can help by bringing bags / cans of pet food to the Wray-Nicholson House located at 298 S. Hull Street between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. The staff will make certain that it is delivered to Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen. Last year almost seven tons of food was donated nationwide by UGA alumni. The goal this year is to match that amazing accomplish.

The UGA Archives are filled with wondrous historical documents. During this special event you will have the opportunity to handle (while wearing white gloves) documents that are centuries old. Mark your calendar today and watch for further details.

SoloSENIORS

The original SoloSENIORS organization was founded in the Athens Area Chapter. This group strives to foster interaction and networking among mature single professionals. The group is open to unmarried men and women at least 50 years of age who are members of the UGA Alumni Association. For information about the SoloSENIORS click here.

Additional Athens Area Activities for UGA Graduates and Friends
