Dawgs for Haiti
Dawgs for Haiti is the University of Georgia’s relief effort to raise money to support the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. You can learn more about this campaign at dawgsforhaiti.uga.edu where you will find a secure, online donation system.
The goal of this student-initiated and operated campaign is to collect $50,000 from the Bulldog Nation. These proceeds will be divided evenly between the relief efforts of the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
Whether you decide to donate your time, energy or make a contribution, please consider helping us answer the call, finish the drill and make a difference in the lives of those who have so little in this time of overwhelming need.
For more information, to get involved and / or to make a contribution, please visit dawgsforhaiti.uga.edu.
Monthly UGA Alumni Social Hour
Held the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m., the UGA Alumni Gatherings offer the opportunity to network and socialize with other graduates. The location changes each time to offer a variety of opportunities around the city. Many stay for dinner. If you want to attend please contact Ashley Dains ‘02 for this month’s location.
Ronald McDonald House Cook & Play
Thursday, February 4
Ronald McDonald House
824 Childrens Way
Jacksonville, Florida
Adult volunteers needed at 5:00 p.m.!
Adult volunteers are needed for our upcoming service event, the Ronald McDonald Cook & Play! Join us for this rewarding evening during which our chapter will host a chili night, help with arts and crafts, and play bingo with the Ronald McDonald House residents. Space is limited and an RSVP is required to participate, so please contact Brian Fuller as soon as possible to volunteer.
Since our chapter is hosting the meal, volunteers will share the cost of the food (we are anticipating the cost to be around $10 per person). Local alumna chef Sally Hart of Herb n’ Chef Personal Chef Service has offered to cook the chili and will need volunteers to arrive at 5:00 p.m. to help with either food prep or the arts and crafts.
We will serve dinner to the residents at 6:00 p.m. and then our Chapter volunteers will head to a San Marco restaurant for a casual dinner together. We appreciate your time and generosity as we give back to our local community! To get involved, contact Chapter President Ashley Dains.
