William Arthur (Art) Brady
When William Arthur (Art) Brady, a rising senior at UGA, was accepted into Grady College this Spring, he became a third generation journalism legacy.
Both his mother, Madge S. Brady ‘68, and his grandmother, Madge Sewell Bellinger ‘39 majored in journalism at The University of Georgia.
Brady, a tele-communications major, is serving an internship with WSB-TV in Atlanta this summer.
He is a graduate of Woodward Academy in his hometown of Atlanta, where he excelled in academics and athletics and was the recipient of the prestigious George Woodruff Award for two years. At UGA, Brady is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, active in College Young Republicans and intramural sports.

His mother, “little Madge,” is marketing coordinator for Delta Employees Credit Union, and his grandmother, Madge Bellinger, of St. Simons Island is a retired newspaper woman. Mrs. Bellinger is a “double” third generation grandmother. A granddaughter, Elizabeth Madray, of Houston, Texas is a rising sophomore at UGA. Her parents are Ashley ‘80 and Lee Sewell Madray ‘80, both UGA alumni who were featured in an earlier legacy article.
When Brady finished High School, he had a wide choice of colleges. Several actively recruited him. “I’m glad I came to UGA,” he says. “I’ve been happy since the first day.”
