Sharon McCullough, ‘75BSHE, and her daughters, Ashley M. Potter, ‘99AB, and Courtney,‘04BSHE, serve on the faculty at Morgan County Middle School.  They are part of a UGA alumni legacy that includes more than four generations.

Sharon and Ashley both teach seventh grade science, and Courtney teaches sixth grade collaborative language arts.  Sharon’s husband, Howard (Jerry) McCullough, ‘75BS, ’80MS, teaches science at Morgan County High School.

Ashley’s husband, Tom Potter, ’96AB and ‘01MED, teaches Economics and AP Economics at Clarke Central High School in Athens.  Tom and Ashley met at UGA.  His great-grandfather, William Glenn Arnold, graduated from UGA in 1917 with a major in Classics (Latin and Greek) and then moved to Boulder, CO.  Tom is from North Dakota and was drawn to UGA from the University of Minnesota because of his grandfather.

Sharon’s parents are Dr. Charles R. Rigdon, ’52DVM and Rose Williams, ’53BSE, met while students at UGA.  He was a member of Alpha Psi and Rose was in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Other bulldogs include her sister, Robin R. Rider, ‘79BSHE, ‘80MSED, and her brother Chuck Rigdon who attended but did not graduate.  Robin was a member of Chi Omega sorority and Chuck was an ATO.

Her aunts and uncles on her mother’s side who attended UGA include Betty Joyce Stark, ‘49BBA and William B. Stark, ‘47BA, ‘49JD; the late Horace Williams, ‘39BSA, Robert Williams who attended but did not graduate and John R. Williams, a strong supporter and major donor.

On her father’s side, there is Nell Rigdon Hayes, ‘58BSHE, member of Alpha Chi Omega, and the late Melvin Rigdon who attended but did not graduate.  On both sides, there are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sharon’s sister-in-law Ann McCullough Campbell also attended but did not graduate, however Ann’s daughter, Jennifer Anne Campbell, BSFA graduated in 2002.

Sharon’s great uncle, John Rigdon graduated in 1920 and played football at UGA.
