Kay Kilgore Brown ‘79, ‘80, currently serving as a temporary Administrative Assistant for the Alumni Association, is part of a three generation UGA alumni legacy.
The late James A. Kilgore, Brown’s father, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and then entered UGA in 1945. Kilgore retired as president of the Federal Land Bank in Dalton, GA in 1986. He originally planned to major in pharmacy, but his career took a turn and he ended up retiring as president of the Federal Land Bank in Dalton, GA in 1986.
Her husband, Alan Lee Brown (’77 AB), majored in Criminal Justice at UGA. He is the assistant police chief for Athens-Clarke County.
The Browns have two sons who have recently graduated from the University. Their oldest son, Andy Brown (’06 BBA), received his degree in Risk Management Information Systems and works with Caterpilllar Financial Services in Nashville, TN. Andy was a member of Phi Kappa Tau at UGA. Tucker Brown (BBA ‘07), majored in finance and is a legislative correspondent in the Office of Rep. Paul Broun, M.D. in Washington, D.C. While at UGA, he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, the Blue Key Honors Society and vice president of the Student Government Association. The Brown’s daughter, Leanna Brown, is in the School of Public and International Affairs and hopes to work in government intelligence.
Both Kay and her husband have sisters who are UGA alumnae. Andy’s sister, LuAnn Brown ‘80, is a career coach in Athens. Kay’s sister, Ann Kilgore ‘76, is an officer with Wachovia Bank in Myrtle Beach, SC. Alan’s grandmother, the late Adele Etheridge, was a graduate of the State Normal School, incorporated into the University in the 1930’s.
