Waddel Hall

WaddelWaddel Hall is named for Moses Waddel, the fifth president of the University of Georgia. It is the second oldest building on campus.

 Featured Greatest Generation Story

Phyllis Jenkins Barrow

Phyllis Jenkins Barrow was a member of UGA’s Greatest Generation.

She died November 30, 2009 at her home in Athens after a lengthy illness.

She was the first UGA graduate to enlist in the Women’s Army Corps and was in the second class to graduate from the WAC Officer Candidate School. During the war, she served in the Pentagon. She left the service with the rank of Captain, the same … continue reading »

Pittman Family

pittman_smIn 1936 Ruth Roberts McDonald ‘36 (ABEd) and her sister Esther Roberts Pittman ’37 (AB) began a family tradition. They were the first two women out of 12 to graduate from the University of Georgia.
