Michael Barry '96 Epstein Becker & Green is a national law firm with a "boutique approach" to five complimentary areas of practice. Michael Barry is a member of the firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences and the Corporate and Securities Law Practices in the firm’s Atlanta office. Mr. Barry’s areas of representation include negotiation and preparation of acquisition, divestiture and joint venture agreements, employment agreements and severance arrangements, licensing, private placements and commercial real estate advice to health care entities.
Mr. Barry’s corporate practice includes mergers and acquisitions, financing and general corporate planning. He represents clients in joint ventures, private securities offerings, and other complex business transactions. Mr. Barry’s health care practice deals with Medicare fraud and abuse analysis and advice, including STARK II and anti-kickback issues, Certificate of Need analysis and application.
Mr. Barry’s practice also focuses on:
• Advice regarding new venture creation, including shareholder agreements and related transition issues
• Software licensing, particularly with regard to electronic medical records software
• Covenants not to compete, non-solicitation and other restrictive covenants
• Advice regarding medical practice sales and acquisitions
• Planning and advice regarding privacy, security and HIPAA compliance
Michael earned a BBA (Finance) and JD from the University of Georgia. He earned his MBA through the University of Georgia’s Executive MBA program where he focused his studies in finance and leadership. In 2005 and 2006 he was recognized as a “Rising Star”—a recognition awarded to attorneys under 40 practicing less than 10 years—awarded to less than 2.5% of the attorneys practicing in the state. He was also a participant in the 2005 Class of Leadership Georgia.
