Reverend G. Richard Hoard G. Richard Hoard, a 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia's Grady School of Journalism, and former member of the UGA baseball team, is a man of many talents and interests.
As author, he has published two books, Alone among the Living (1994,2008) University of Georgia Press, and a novel entitled The Race Before Us, for which he received a nomination for Georgia Writer of the Year. At just missing out on the award, he quips, "Edged out, I was, by a former President." However, he was edged out by no one for writing awards from The Georgia Press Association, The Salvation Army, and the AMMY foundation. As instructor, he currently teaches literature and composition classes at Madison County High School and serves as pastor of Oconee River Church in Bishop, Georgia.
Rev. Hoard also enjoys several hobbies. As thespian, he has been cast as the father of the leading lady in several plays, including As You Like It, Aida, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas. He also enjoys imitating sounds, impressing groups at his speaking engagements with his vocal impressions.
