Bart Newman '99, '03

Bart Newman is an attorney with Arnall Golden Gregory (AGG) in Atlanta, Ga. Prior to joining AGG, he was a Captain in the U.S. Army. Stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Bart served with the XVIII Airborne Corps and completed a one-year tour in Baghdad, Iraq. While deployed, he inspected detainee facilities across the country and advised commanders on lethal and non-lethal targeting.

Bart holds a Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from the University of Georgia where he was President of the Student Government, a Rhodes scholarship finalist, and a member of two SEC Championship Tennis Teams. Bart also holds a master’s in Management, Economics & International Relations from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the University of Georgia School of Law. In the fall of 2007, Bart was awarded the University of Georgia Blue Key Young Alumnus Award.

Bart is the author of "BECAUSE OF BAGHDAD—What a Father Would Say About Life, if He Didn’t Come Home to Say It," which was released in the fall of 2007. Bart and his wife, Julie, live in Marietta, Ga., with their two kids, Kate and Luke.
